How We Got Here

It started as some fun.

At Presentation Mode, we spend our days shipping pitch decks at unreasonable speeds.

We’re surrounded by cutting-edge stacks, and meeting ambitious founders shipping products faster than culture can keep up.

Two baseball caps, one blue and one beige, both embroidered with 'hat GPT,' placed on a wooden table. The blue cap has a sticker that reads 'OTTO relaxed fit dad hat.' In the background, there are various objects including a yellow beverage bottle, a clear glass, and some unidentified items.

So, we made a hat.

Just a handful to give out at our AI-focused panel at this year’s SF Tech Week.

We weren’t expecting the response. People (literally) chased us down for them. Unprecedented numbers of strangers spoke to us.

Then we realized.

In today’s serious tech landscape, there’s a gap for something lighter — a wearable conversation-starter for an era that’s still figuring itself out.

That looks great too.

Text on screen reading: "I rock hatGPT here in Austin all the time and it never fails to elicit a response."
Text that says 'I love my hatGPT' with a blue cloud emoji.

After a successful (and unplanned) pilot, we activated GTM mode.

WE LIKE HATS.
